Tips for importing Nikon Coolpix A900 H.264 MPEG-4 footage to FCP

May 27 2016 , Written by lauralily10 Published on #nikon coolpix a900 to final cut pro, #nikon a900 to fcp x, #fcp won't open mp4 files from nikon a900 camera, #importing nikon a900 h.264 mpeg-4 to fcp, #edit nikon a900 4k videos in final cut pro 7, #convert nikon a900 footages to editable in final cut pro, #work nikon coolpix a900 mp4 files with fcp x, #convert nikon a900 mp4 files to prores 422 for fcp, #nikon a900 mp4 to prores 4444 for fcp 7

Summary: FCP does not open and play with Nikon Coolpix H.264 MPEG-4 footage directly? Well, the best workaround is to convert those H.264 to ProRes videos, the best video format for editing in FCP. Check out below to learn how-to.

The Coolpix A900 is a slim long zoom compact camera that fits comfortably into any user’s pocket. While the A900 may be small, it packs an amazing 35x Optical Zoom NIKKOR glass lens (70x with Dynamic Fine Zoom) that helps reach far away subjects. In addition to high-quality still photographs, it can capture Full HD 1920 x 1080p video at up to 60 fps as well as 4K UHD video at 30p with a built-in microphone providing stereo audio recordings.

For a FCP owner, however, you'll find a bit painful when importing and editing Nikon Coolpix A900 recordings with FCP, as the process is very slow and even the program carshes now and then. According to its official spec, we come to figure out that the files on the Nikon Coolpix A900 are H.264 MPEG-4 files. While, in general, FCP does support MP4 videos, it has strict requirements only for MP4 files encoded with MPEG4/AAC or H.264/AAC codec. Therefore, the Nikon Coolpix A900 MP4 footage, in H.264 MPEG-4 with stereo audio, will be definitely rejected by FCP.

In order to successfully import Nikon Coolpix A900 H.264 MPEG-4 with stereo audio footage to FCP, a recommended solution is to convert A900 all those files to FCP supported video format, Apple ProRes at first. Actually, the process is easy and can done well with the help of Brorsoft H.264 video converter for Mac, capable of transforming Nikon Coolpix A900 H.264 MPEG-4 to ProRes with fast speed while keeping its pristine quality. Besides Nikon Coolpix A900, this excellent program also support other Nikon camcorders, such as Nikon D800, D4, D3S, D7000, D300S, etc, H.264.mov fooatge for editing in FCP/iMovie/Premiere/Avid, etc. The following will introduce a detailed guide on how to convert Nikon Coolpix A900 H.264 MPEG-4 to FCP supported one.
